Spiro & Associates team members enjoyed the VIP Reception hosted by the Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University paying tribute to this year’s nominees for the 2016 Distinguished Entrepreneur of Southwest Florida – congratulations to all nominees including our very own Chris Spiro. The event celebrated the nominees and their business successes.
The catered affair gave us the opportunity to meet faculty and staff of the university and The Lutgert College of Business, as well as some sponsors, other nominees and community leaders.
The Small Business Development Center will host its 2016 Distinguished Entrepreneur of SWFL Awards and Ceremony event on Wednesday, May 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers.
The Distinguished Entrepreneur of Southwest Florida award celebrates a business owner who:
- Demonstrates innovative and cutting-edge approaches to corporate culture, employee programs and integration of new technologies
- Offers goods or services across a broad area (local, regional, national, international)
- Is a multi-award recipient across industry, civic and other organizations
- Is highly active in the community to advocate both small businesses as well as non-profits
- And has overcome significant obstacles during the life of the company
Other honors to be awarded May 18 are two new awards: Small Business Advocate of the Year and Distinguished Innovator of the Year.
Judging the nominations this year are Phil Borchmann, Gulfshore Business magazine; Dorothy Browning, Goodwill Industries of SWFL; Timothy J. Cartwright of Tamiami Angel Fund; Colleen DePasquale, who heads up the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce; and Gary K. Mart, the 2015 Distinguished Entrepreneur of SWFL and CEO of Global Tech LED.
