Don Gross
Senior Media Planner
Years at Spiro: Over a decade and now as a sister company.
Building on his past.
Don’s previous careers as a commercial real estate broker and a financial advisor fueled his advertising career. “Financial advising made me look at things based on value, not cost. That’s a distinction I use when buying media for clients of Spiro & Associates, now with a siter company entitled United National Media. Opportunities come along that may be ‘low-cost deals,’ but when I start digging, I see the value’s not there, and the deal is not such a deal. ”
On the real estate side, Don’s largest deal was $22 million, and his smallest was…less – closer maybe to two cents. Hey, you learn from them all. And in Don’s case, you use what you learn over and over and over again. That’s what makes him great at his job.
F L O R I D A S T A T E. Florida State, Florida State. Whoo.
Hokey cheer, but that’s what they yell at Florida State, where Don proudly received his Mass Media degree.
And like ALL Florida State fans, he’s been driven to talking to himself since the undefeated Seminoles were not invited to the College Football Playoffs…yet. He’s still not happy about it but in his optimistic fashion continually saying with confidence, “There’s always this year!” It’s unnerving.
20 times a day.
Don also says positive things to himself. “I encourage myself regularly. It works. I also ask myself about twenty times a day, so what am I doing now? Will this sincerely sell (inset client product or service here), is this the best use of their resources, what will have the most impact? I’ve found this helps focus and prioritize my minutes, hours, days and most importantly, laser focus on clients’ success. This is another example of why Don excels at what he does.
Not a normal grown-up.
“I’m only grown up when I have to be, which is more than I want to be. But one ungrown-up thing now is that I finally have that kick-ass car stereo system we all wanted during our high school and college years.”
It’s a great system. One can often hear Don blasting his music from his car, with his beautiful, wonderful girlfriend next to him, his mountain bike on the back, and his French bulldog (in spirit) along for the ride. It’s a beautiful sight…
Winning & success is paramount.
And finally, Don is exploring his entrepreneurial side by starting his new entity, something we affectionately call our Sister Company…so we get all Don’s experience and knowledge on call and as we need it with the same drive to see clients win. He knows the people, the numbers, the process and its lead to great success for our clients.
